Nathan Clark

Co-Owner, Water Harvesting Tech, Gardener

A Tucson native and UA alumni, I love this place we call home and am committed to making it the coolest place it’s ever been. With a grounded and logical approach to problem solving, I draw upon 10 years of contracting experience to finish the job right, every time. Groomed by the likes of the Community Food Bank and Watershed Management Group, I bring with me a focus on education, food justice, and hard work. I am so excited for the opportunity to engage the community through collaboratively designing, building, and managing landscapes to restore biodiverse wildlife habitats, beautify our neighborhoods, and create multi-purpose outdoor living spaces. I won’t stop until Tucson is a leader for the world to follow.

In my free time, I enjoy horticulture, spending time with family, cooking, brewing, baking, biking, reading, travel, and vermiculture.

I believe strongly in the interconnection between environmental and human health. Through a holistic and collaborative design approach, I strive to help people create livable landscapes that offer opportunities for enriching social and environmental interactions.

I earned a Bachelor of Science in Plant Sciences and a Master of Landscape Architecture from the University of Arizona. I have been professionally designing and installing landscapes since 2010. In the past, I worked with larger landscape architecture firms on public-scale projects, I worked with the University of Arizona on grant-funded community projects, and I also worked with Watershed Management Group as the Residential Design-Build Program Manager.

When it rains I love to choose projects to visit to see our work in action.

When I'm not designing outdoor living spaces, I'm spending time away from the city, playing with my daughter, raising rabbits and quail, and scheming about how to make Tucson more like a garden.

I usually go by Math. I am a resettled refugee from Chad and am graduating from NAU in business administration. I have served three terms with AmeriCorps in Tucson. With a basic knowledge in construction, I joined Desert Living, Inc. through Iskashitaa Refugee Network where I have been serving on the board. Under the incredible supervision of Nate, I have been learning how to install rainwater and greywater harvesting systems at residential sites, install erosion mitigation earthworks and rock structures, create comfortable outdoor living spaces, and infuse yards with wildlife habitat. I love outdoor environment and my ultimate goal is to meet high expectations.

As an advocate for healthy living habits, I like healthy food, hiking, biking, and drumming.
